Job Summary:The Scrum Master is a “servant leader”, helping the rest of the Scrum Team follow their process.
The Scrum Master works with the Product Owner to help the Product Owner understand how to create and maintain the Product Backlog. He works with the Development Team to find and implement the technical practices that will allow them to get to done at the end of each Sprint. He works with the whole Scrum Team to evolve the Definition of Done.
The Scrum Master acts as a coach for the Scrum Team, helping them to execute the Scrum process. He helps them to work together and to learn the Scrum framework, and protects them from both internal and external distractions. He may facilitate meetings, and helps keep the Scrum Team on track, productive, and growing in ability.

Major Responsibilities

List of base practices this role is responsible for:
• : Identify team members and assign roles including Scrum Master, Product Owner and Team members. The team is trained on Scrum.

• Estimate size of items in the Product Backlog based on Effort, Complexity and Uncertainty parameters and update Product Backlog with size estimate. Changes to Product backlog item including new requirements needs to be estimated throughout the project
• Estimate number of Sprints required and plan the Releases. Document the Release contents in Release Plan
• Communicate Product Vision and Release Plan with stakeholders and obtain agreement on goals, cost and timelines
• Identify various environment and tool needs of the Project, procure and set-up the same
• Identify acceptance criteria for product increment and document in Definition of Done. Discuss and Document Definition of Ready. Review Definition of Done during beginning of each sprint for its validity and alignment towards sprint goals.
• Decide on how many backlog items the team can deliver in the sprint based on available capacity or velocity from earlier sprints. Finalize Sprint Backlog once the team provides its commitment
• Conduct Daily Scrum Meeting where each team member appraises others on tasks performed by them and impediments if any. Share information on planned absences.
• Resolve impediments discussed in the daily meeting after the meeting is completed. Document impediments and update status in the Impediments Log.
• Update Burndown Chart with sprint progress information. Communicate Status to relevant stakeholders.
• Invite Product Owner and relevant stakeholders and conduct sprint review. Provide demonstration of Product Increment.
• Obtain feedback on Product Increment in terms of Quality, Completeness, suitability for end user needs and further improvements. Seek approval from Product Owner on achieving Sprint goal
• Update Release Plan based on changes to the Product Backlog
• Brainstorm best practices and lessons learnt during the Sprint and identify improvement opportunities for future sprints. Implement identified improvements. Review Release Burndown chart and assess progress of the Project. Review action items from last retrospective meeting and identify improvement opportunities
• PDiscuss and update Definition of Done, if team finds it necessary. The identified process improvement actions need to be implemented.
• Conduct Project Retrospective to collect and document project experience in terms of Best Practices and Lessons learnt. Update Release Burndown chart.

Educational & Professional Qualifications:

Technical Skills (Mandatory)  

• Scrum Master Certification
• Excellent Database skills and knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts for BI Reporting
• Strong SQL skills with the ability to optimize, analyse, and improve database SQL performance
• Exposure to BigData Technologies is an added advantage

Other skills (Preferable technical skills /Soft skills) 
• Ability to quickly understand requirements and to develop solutions
• Good analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting abilities – Independent problem solver
• Good writing skills for technical and user documentation
• Excellent team player
• Fluent English written and spoken; German language skills a plus
